Our Story
The Dental Hygiene Team began serving residents in long-term care in 2013, built on a simple but powerful belief: every person deserves compassionate, dignified oral care—
no matter where they live.
The organization was founded by Susanne Hutchings, who has been a practicing Registered Restorative Dental Hygienist in good standing for over 3 decades.
After many years in private practice, Susanne developed a close professional relationship with a client who later transitioned into long-term care. When the family encountered significant barriers trying to continue regular dental visits, they asked if Susanne could bring dental care directly to the facility. With the support of the dentist, she was able to provide this service.
That first visit became a turning point. What began as care for one individual quickly revealed a much larger need, as other families in the facility reached out seeking the same support for their loved ones.
From that moment, the Dental Hygiene Team grew into what it is today—a dedicated group of professionals committed to bringing gentle, respectful, and clinically thorough oral care directly to residents in long-term care settings.
Susanne leads the team with deep compassion and a strong sense of responsibility rooted in integrity, empathy, and an unwavering commitment to her team, residents and their families.
The Dental Hygiene Team understands that oral health is closely tied to comfort, dignity, nutrition, and overall well-being. Every resident is treated as a unique individual, and care is always adapted to their needs, preferences, and abilities.
For families, our goal is simple: to provide peace of mind, knowing your loved one is receiving thoughtful, non-invasive, skilled care delivered with patience, respect, and genuine kindness.
